“Pitti Bimbo is the most important international trade fair featuring children’s and teen fashions”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine, “it is the only show that presents a complete overview of the children’s wear world with a precise segmentation of its many looks: from the classic-elegance of the big names at Pitti Bimbo to the sportswear at Sport Generation and the street couture at SuperStreet, from the creativity of the fair-trade brands at EcoEthic and the research at New View, to the avant-garde collections at Apartment, to textiles and design for the tiniest of the little ones. At each edition we try to define this mapping more accurately: so we did some things with New View, that has always been the fair’s “research lab”, and we are making it into an experimental model from the exhibition standpoint so that it becomes an ideal link with Apartment, creating a sort of fashion district within the event. And there is more: the Pitti Bimbo fashion shows, will have a larger following than ever, will be enriched with  even further new events and new expressions, “after-hours” presentations and entertainment that pick up on the latest happenings in style and on the markets.

FLORENCE BIENNALE 2009

The seventh edition of the Biennale Internazionale dell’Arte Contemporanea of Florence will be held from 5th to 13th December 2009 in the historical setting of Fortezza da Basso. Participants and guest will ahve the chance to meet within the many conferences and events, our Honour guests: Marina Abramovic and Shu Yong.

Marina Abramovic will exhibit some of her videos at the Fortezza da Basso and will offer a lecture to the audience followed by a book signing and an exchange of thoughts between public and her;Shu Yong will exhibit some of the paintings from the series “Chinese Myths”.

Biennale artists from all over the world will exhibit more than 2,500 works of art and will take part in the exhibition for an extraordinary encounter between different cultures, styles and languages as the “Dialogue among Civilization” program promotes, the Biennale has been officially participating in this program since 2001.

As always, the Biennale will see the presence of important artists: In the 2007 edition, the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” career prize was conferred to Gilbert & George, for the 2005 edition to Christo and Jeanne-Claude and to Richard Anuszkiewicz and in 2003 to David Hockney.
